Military Aircraft Prices

According to this source new military aircraft prices per plane (apparently absent R&D cost) are as follows:

*C-17 $208 million
*F-22 $170 million
*V-22 $128 million
*EA-18G $107 million
*C-130J $90 million
*F-18E $80 million
*KC-130J $78 million

For the new aircraft, the initial development costs tends to be very high, often doubling the actual cost of each aircraft eventually purchased. This is much less the case with older designs. There is still some R&D going on, but only enough to bump the ultimate cost 5-10 percent per aircraft.

It still isn't clear to me if the U.S. Department of Defense is simply a chump paying to much for these planes, or if they are genuinely expensive to build.
